Oregon Medicaid EHR Incentives

Medicaid EHR Incentive Program

The Medicaid HIT Project is tasked with implementing and running Oregon’s Medicaid Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program for eligible Oregon providers. Planning has already begun, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) expect that the majority of states will have launched their Medicaid programs by the summer of 2011. Oregon is on track to meet that timing.

In addition, the Medicaid HIT Project will develop the state Medicaid vision of a coordinated network of DHS/OHA systems that directly impact Medicaid providers and their ability to achieve meaningful use of EHRs. Planning efforts will identify activities needed to connect providers to the Medicaid Health Information Network where appropriate to achieve meaningful use of EHRs and to connect Medicaid Health Information Network systems to the statewide health information exchange. This includes supporting the Medicaid share of the development of Oregon’s statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE).

All eligible providers will need to have a certified electronic health record system to receive payments.
